With nearly two decades in the pharmacy and PBM industries, Monica Gindhart brings a wealth of expertise to her role as Vice President of Business Development at Navion. Having previously led account management at Navion, Monica now sits on the other side—building relationships with brokers, PBMs, captives and other partners, helping them navigate the complexities of the self-funded pharmacy space.
Monica works closely with clients to identify cost-saving opportunities, optimize PBM contracts, and implement pharmacy benefit strategies that reduce costs without disrupting member care. By sharing best practices, trend data and actionable insights, she empowers clients to make informed decisions in an ever-evolving pharmacy landscape.
She also led PBM RFP processes, contract negotiations, and third-party savings programs, leveraging her deep understanding of pricing models and contractual nuances to ensure clients get the strongest possible value. Monica’s firsthand experience in both transparent and traditional PBM arrangements gives her a unique perspective, helping potential clients weigh their options with clarity and confidence.
Recognizing the need for greater education in the space, Monica developed “PBM 101”, a program that simplifies complex pharmacy concepts into practical, real-world applications. Her ability to break down technical details into actionable strategies has made her a trusted resource for brokers, employers, and industry partners alike.
Before joining Navion, Monica was a lead account executive at BeneCard PBF, where she restructured implementation processes and advised on all renewal RFPs. She later joined RxBenefits, a pharmacy benefits optimizer (PBO) with contracts across the “Big 3” PBMs, where she managed large national accounts and drove process improvements. Within six months, she was nominated for New Rockstar of the Year and Top Strategic Account Executive of the Year.
With a deep understanding of pharmacy benefit structures, contract negotiations, and industry trends, Monica continues to be a driving force in helping partners and clients optimize their pharmacy strategies for long-term savings and sustainability.
